shoutouts to my lil bro who follows me on here
you’re the reason i don’t reblog pictures of butts. even though i like pictures of butts, i must keep your precious eyes pure (even though butts are awesome and tumblr probably ruined your eyes long ago with something much much worse)
hey lil bro LOVE YOU
“if you lived here, you’d understand”
i did live here. i grew up in hawaii (well, four years counts as ‘growing up’ to an army kid) and i was friends with native hawaiians and it was just like this. i had a friend named Ku’uipo, a traditional Hawaiian name that means “sweetheart” and you’d see some trashy tourist chick wearing her name as a gold anklet. it’s appalling how much americans have stomped over hawaiian culture, it was really awesome and unique until america decided to colonize and enslave its people. ya know, JUST LIKE all the shit we did to the native americans, except this was more recent. i remember standing in queen liliuokalani’s bedroom in the palace (the only royal palace ever in america) where she barricaded herself in for a month or something to protect her people and her way of life. i remember tourists butchering this cool language. i remember learning about all of this in school and hating it just as much as the descendants of the the native hawaiians, except i am the descendant of oppression. i remember playing on an empty beach while the sirens went off. i remember when this movie came out i had just moved back to the mainland, and it was weird and it hurt. this is too real.
